Jenny Kane: Shsh, don’t tell anyone …

… but it’s okay to write erotica!

Heck, you all know by now that I don’t care for genre pigeonholing and expectations concerning rules and labelling. But especially for those of us who are writing the sexy, it can be a struggle to be a) taken seriously, b) not judged, c) not seen as writing the easy option etc. etc. Especially the latter makes me cringe, as I think it’s just as hard as writing a great battle scene or any other challenge above and beyond the “normal” plotting. Writing GOOD erotica/sensuality is damn hard and very few manage it with taste and a distinctive voice, so:

Listen to what Jenny Kane has to say about writing this increasingly popular niche/craft and believe us when we say: writing the erotic is NOT just a yummy ingredient you can throw in here and there to vamp up a romance or other plot, and writing good sensuality is – in my opinion – one of the most difficult things to write “right” if you aim for a certain standard and sophistication. It is, after all, part of my genre and my daily job. Mein täglich, sexy Brot. ENJOY Jenny’s post! 🙂
